I just started using UV, polarization, neutral density filters on my camera, and so far its making a huge difference in the raw footage. Does anyone have any good links to websites that go into detail about when to use the different filters? Everything I've read so far has been very high level and vague.
Thanks.

Good to see a post that actually relates directly to film 'making'! There's a severe lack of them at the moment but unfortunately, I can't help - sorry, hopefully someone else can spare some time for some thoughts...

It depends on what you want to achieve ,some software rendering tools are brilliant at the moment I well into my Tri tone filter You get a totally different affect than if I filtered on camera. The down side is you have to render and so not as quick as taping a filter to your lens.
If you want to go real cheep budget get a Filter Swatch (for free)this will contain about 100 filters(made by LEE FILTERS or ROSCO available from pro photo stores and lighting hire shops) different colours and effects and tape it over the lens they're small though so you may need to tape them over the rear element of your lens if you can. These are optically inferior by a long way but will give you insight into filtering.

i work with cameras and filters and i know uv, pl and colour filters have changed the look of my movies from shit to not bad i understand completey sn!
ive got some advice - go to waterstones and buy yourself a good book on photography, i mean movies are just lots of still images.. make sure the book on photog. gos into lots of detail about using filters in b+w and colour! then apply those fundamentals to film making style... ie graduated filters DONT USE THEM IN TRACKING SHOTS!
